Melbourne, considered as a mecca for sports, is all set to host an Indian movie. R Balki’s ‘Ghoomer’, which is a sports drama starring Abhishek Bachchan, Saiyami Kher, Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi is heading down under for an international premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) that starts on August 11.
The movie tells the story of a paraplegic sports person played by Saiyami, who excels as a cricketer under the guidance of her coach, portrayed by Abhishek Bachchan.Saiyami, who has been a state level cricket player herself, reveals that playing a sport on screen has always been her dream and she has been manifesting it since the time she became an actor. She also added that she is quite excited about the premiere, as Melbourne happens to be late cricketer Shane Warne’s hometown, who was her favourite.
Shabana Azmi will also be attending the premiere, she plays a cricket crazy grandmother to Saiyami in the film. Balki, in an interview mentioned that the film is a tribute to sports and is a reservoir of human resilience. The India release date of the movie is awaited.
