Christopher Nolan’s latest offering ‘Oppenheimer‘, starring Cillian Murphy, is all set to hit the screens on July 21 and the film is witnessing an unprecedented rush in advance bookings.
Ticket sales began on July 1 and have exceeded expectations. So much so that shows are being scheduled for 3 am as well. Several popular cinema chains in Mumbai have slotted the film for 3:30 am and 3:45 am, apart from regular shows.Other chains are also expected to follow suit. This is for the first time that a non-franchise film is being scheduled for such an early morning show. So far, only family entertainers like theMarvel superhero films and Avatar: The Way of Water had received such treatment.
Industry experts are putting it down to the popularity of Christopher Nolan and also the curiosity for the much hyped scene depicting the first ever atomic explosion. This particular scene has been shot without CGI and is supposed to be extraordinary. Fantastically, ‘Oppenheimer’ in major theatre chains, has sold more than 14,000 tickets.
