38th death anniversary of Austrian anthropologist Haimendorf to be observed on January 11- NSP NEWS

Kumuram Bheem Asifabad Collector Venkatesh Dhotre on Friday (January 3) released the poster of an event marking the 38^th death anniversary of renowned Austrian anthropologist Christoph von Furer-Haimendorf at the Collectorate in Asifabad town.

A meeting will be held under the aegis of the district administration at Marlavai in Jainoor mandal on January 11 to mark his death anniversary, sources said.

Haimendorf along with his wife Elizabeth lived in Marlavai for a few years as part of a research on Raj Gond and other Adivasi communities in the then princely State of Hyderabad in the 1940s. The couple endeared themselves to the tribespeople, leaving an indelible mark on them.
