BJP workers celebrated the party’s victory in the Delhi Assembly election, across north Karnataka on Saturday.

In Belagavi, Abhay Patil MLA, joined party workers in the celebrations at Kittur Channamma Circle.

In Dharwad, workers burst firecrackers and distributed sweets. Aravind Bellad, MLA, and other leaders were present.

In Hubballi, Mahesh Tenginkai MLA, and others distributed sweets near the Channamma statue in traffic island.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said the Delhi loss was a slap on the face of Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Chief Minister.

“The AAP came to power by promising to root out corruption but it embraced corruption. The people of Delhi have given them a fitting reply with this humiliating defeat,” he said.

The AAP was drowned in corruption, while the BJP worked systematicly. The AAP gave the ticket to the most corrupt leaders from other parties. Mr. Kejriwal was also arrogant to say that he would rule from inside the prison. All these led to the loss, Mr. Joshi said.

“The AAP betrayed the people of Delhi by failing to keep its promises of development. It also was engaged in corrupt practices around the excise policy. It kept making false allegations against the BJP from the first day,” he said.

“That the Congress failed to open its account in Delhi shows that the party has no future under Rahul Gandhi. Democracy needs a strong and creative Opposition party. But we do not seem to be getting that. The Congress should introspect about that,” he said. He said the people of Delhi had rejected the Congress as its leaders had criticised ancient Indian heritage and culture. To a query, he said that opportunistic alliance-making of the Congress had proved to be dangerous for the party. While Congress alliances are opportunistic, our alliances are respectful,” he said.

He said the allegations of EVM tampering and the Election Commission of India being partial to the BJP were baseless. Complaints of arbitrary or malicious electoral roll revision aimed at benefiting particular candidates are very serious. But they should be made with evidence, he said.

Mr. Bellad said the remarkable victory in the Delhi Assembly elections was a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong leadership, corruption-free and efficient governance, and the party’s commitment to development. “The humiliating defeat of both the Congress and the AAP proves that the INDIA bloc has no future. The election outcome makes it clear that welfare schemes, infrastructure development, and national security precede the hollow guarantees and freebie politics of corrupt parties. The people of Delhi have rejected such deceptive promises. In States where the Congress has come to power through fake guarantees, we are witnessing the economic downfall caused by their governance. To fund these so-called guarantees, they are increasing the prices of petrol, diesel, milk, alcohol, medical treatments, bus fares, registration fees, and stamp duty, burdening the common people. In Karnataka, they have hiked the charges for birth and death certificates by 10 times, showing that this Congress government is focused on revenue collection even from life and death registrations,” he said.
