Nukathoti Bhargavi, a fourth-year student of Law at Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) in Tirupati, has been selected for the six-week U.S. John McCain Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders programme on the ‘Rule of Law and Public Service’, sponsored by the United States of America (USA).

The programme, hosted by the University of Nevada in Reno, USA, will bring a group of participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, India, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Malaysia, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Zambia, to the USA from June 16 to July 24.

The SUSI aims to develop leadership skills in the participants and prepares them for future positions in public service. Using a multidisciplinary approach, the programme provides an overview of the U.S. government, including its branches, the U.S. Constitution and the Federalism.

The participants will meet U.S. leaders from diverse backgrounds and also visit a military base, detention centre, courtroom and learn about the local law enforcement. SPMVV Vice-Chancellor V. Uma congratulated the student, while the SPMVV Centre for International Relations dean P. Vijayalakshmi and associate dean R. Usha expressed delight over Ms. Bhargavi’s selection.
