The Telangana High Court on July 1 dismissed the writ petition filed by Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi supremo and former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao seeking direction to stay proceedings of Justice L. Narasimha Reddy Commission (constituted by CM Revanth Reddy government of Congress) to probe into Power Purchase Agreements made by the previous BRS government with the Chattisgarh State.
Mr. Rao, who consecutively served as CM of Telangana for two terms, had filed a writ petition on June 25 challenging the constitution of the Commission.
The former CM had stated in his petition that setting up the Commission was ultra vires the provisions of the Commission of Inquiry Act-1952 and the Electricity Act-2003. He mentioned that he had written a letter to the former HC judge to recuse himself from heading the Commission.
